Working session at Milan Malpensa Airport on OLGA Project

Between 12.07.2022-13.07.2022, a SC (Steering Committee meeting) was held at Milan Malpensa Airport related to the OLGA Project. This meeting was also attended by the representatives of Cluj Airport involved in the project. This working meeting was attended by Olga Project partners, SEA executive members as well as members of the business environment from the Lombardy region and the topics discussed focused on the use of hydrogen in order to decarbonize the aviation industry.

Each Work package leader presented the current status and the actions to be taken, thus being debated topics related to all the Work Packages of the project:

WP. 1 – Baseline&Impact Assessment Standard, WP. 2 – Landside transport, access and multimodal, WP. 3 – Airside Transport, WP. 4 – Terminal Area, WP. 5 – Energy, Hydrogen, WP . 6 – Cross-cutting aspects, WP. 7 – Communication and Dissemination, WP. 8 – Exploitation and Technology transfer, WP. 9 – Project Management and common IT framework, WP. 10 – Ethics requirements.

On this occasion, our partners from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca presented how intermodal transport can be implemented, referring to the fact that it is desired that buses which connect the airport and the city to operate by using biogas, in order to improve the air quality and the life of Cluj citizens.

In this regard, Cluj Airport supported the placement of a mini station for experimental biogas production, in the vicinity of the Integrated Waste Management Center (CMID). Cluj Airport supports the actions taken within the OLGA Project to reduce carbon emissions, a fact also certified by ACI Europe.
